Baseline reading under review

Individual onboarding separates prescribed identity data from the evidence used to verify it. Establish name, citizenship, PESEL or date of birth where no PESEL exists, country of birth and identity-document details; the residential-address field is qualified by whether that information is held. Sole traders have additional business particulars. Check identity using reliable independent evidence, and verify any representative's identity and authority. The normal gate is verification before the relationship or transaction, with timing exceptions available only under their specific statutory conditions. Supporting requirements

For an in-scope Polish institution, establishing a relationship triggers due diligence independently of occasional-transaction thresholds. Assess the particular relationship as well as the institution's wider exposures, using purpose, expected activity and relevant customer, product and geographical factors to determine the measures needed. Higher risk calls for enhanced diligence, while simplified treatment requires confirmed lower risk. National and EU assessments may inform the institutional assessment, but the provision does not require copying their scores into the customer's rating. Supporting requirements
